About HalfLifeDB
HalfLifeDB is an educational product focused on making substance half-life concepts easier to understand. It provides interactive graphs for simple first-order elimination models together with curated profile pages, source links, and plain-language interpretation.
The site is maintained as an independent reference project at HalfLifeDB.co. It is not an online pharmacy, treatment provider, recovery program, laboratory testing service, or marketplace. The content is written to explain pharmacokinetic concepts and point readers toward source material, not to encourage substance use or replace professional judgment.
The goal is to help people visualize relative first-order decline using published pharmacokinetic half-life values. It is not a body-concentration or diagnostic tool and does not estimate impairment, legal fitness to drive, or fitness for medical procedures.
How the calculator works
The calculator assumes a single-compartment, first-order elimination model using a single half-life value. This is a simplification. Many substances have multi-compartment kinetics, active metabolites, or non-linear behavior that are not reflected here.
Because of this, the curves on this site should be treated as approximate visualizations only. Real-world concentrations in blood, urine, and other matrices depend on many factors including dose, route of administration, individual metabolism, liver and kidney function, and drug interactions.
What makes the site useful
A half-life value is easy to quote but harder to interpret. HalfLifeDB pairs the number with a curve, half-life checkpoints, source links, and repeated caveats about what the model leaves out. The point is to help readers understand the relationship between elapsed time and exponential decline.
The project also separates concept articles from individual substance profiles. If you are new to the topic, start with the Learning Center or the methodologypage before relying on any one profile.
Who maintains the content
Pages are maintained by the HalfLifeDB Editorial Team as an independent educational reference. The review process checks source links, calculator assumptions, and safety boundaries. The site does not currently claim clinician review, and profile pages should not be treated as clinical guidance.
Each substance profile lists its last source-review date and links to references used for follow-up reading. If a citation is indirect, preclinical, or included for context rather than as a direct human half-life estimate, we aim to say so near the reference.
The public review log lists every published profile, its representative model, reference count, and current editorial review date. It provides a quick way to see the catalog's scope and how recently each entry received a source-context check.
Editorial boundaries
HalfLifeDB avoids dosing instructions, purchase information, drug-testing evasion, instructions for misuse, or individualized medical advice. Profiles are written around pharmacokinetic interpretation: what half-life means, why estimates differ, and how to read a simple curve.
